Pastor Maybelle Denwiddie
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. (Proverbs 3: 5-6 KJV)
Pastor Maybelle Denwiddie, since surrendering her heart to Jesus Christ at the tender age of 5 and then, later actively pursuing her spiritual calling in her early twenties, Pastor Maybelle Denwiddie of New Creation Worship Center has witnessed her ministry span over three decades. God has anointed this awesome vessel to such a heightened level where she flows in many giftings; earning the titles of: Preacher, Prophetess, Evangelist, Teacher, Psalmist and Counselor. She leads by example as a woman of integrity, who is a confidant to many and seeks God’s wisdom fervently in prayer—in every situation. These were the core principles instilled in Pastor Denwiddie at an early age by her parents: Bishop Norris N. Dickenson and Evangelist Mildred Dickenson, deceased.
“Pastor May”, as she is affectionately called by her congregation, resigned from Butterfield Bank as Benefits Officer in 2002 to pursue her God-given calling to serve both local and international communities. Her message of hope is highly sought after locally, throughout the United States, the Caribbean Islands and in several parts of South Africa. And, as a spiritual mentor, she continuously touches the lives of many whereby provoking change and creating awareness of purpose.
In February 1999, God challenged Pastor Maybelle and her husband, Apostle Jimmie Denwiddie, to take a step of faith and in obedience to His command; they gave birth to New Creation Worship Center. A ministry where individuals can be restored and discover new purpose and new possibilities. At New Creation Worship Center, Pastor May’s duties include: management of the church infrastructure, project coordination, leadership training and biblical teaching.
After reflecting on many of the social ills facing Bermuda, this dynamic duo launched The Aerie Foundation – a non-profit, faith-based organization which was registered as a charity in December 2004. The Aerie Foundation’s mission is simple: to initiate and support community-driven projects that address the social needs of the youth and elderly and to facilitate and be a catalyst for sustainable change. Once again, God stretched Pastor May into new territories. Now, this fearless spiritual leader holds the title of Executive Director where she oversees the operational, administrative and human resource aspects of this organization and is involved in the financial planning. She has extensive experience in dealing with the needs of older adults and family caregivers and also serves as the spokesperson for The Aerie Foundation.
On December 28, 1974, Pastor May embarked upon an exciting chapter in her life when she exchanged “I do’s” with Apostle Jimmie Denwiddie Sr. JP. Their union resulted in numerous blessings: one daughter Dhwanna, son in law Raymond Burrows Jr., two sons Jimmie Ray Jr., daughter in law Lindsey, Devray and four grandchildren, Kayla Marie and Evan Ray Denwiddie, Aviyah Diella and Raymond III (RJ) Burrows.
Her desire is to be ever sensitive to the Spirit of God as He directs her life into new dimensions. Her favorite scripture instilled in her by her father is Proverbs 3: 5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
